As Andy is driving up Amsterdam Avenue in NYC to meet a client, he’s pulled over by two cops who’ve caught him talking on his cell phone while the car was in motion. When they pull him up in the system, they discover his license has been suspended for the past three years for failure to pay a ticket — a fact Andy himself wasn’t aware of, because he never opens his mail. Andy is taken first to a holding cell, and then to the precinct bullpen to wait to plead his case before a judge, and hopefully just pay his ticket. The collection of colorful lawbreakers around him in the bullpen gives him pause, but when one of the more intimidating cellies clears his throat and starts leading the group in a participatory discussion about tips and tricks to navigate the legal system, Andy finds himself rapt, realizing that this is a more compelling meeting than the one he was on his way to when he got arrested.
