Jesse is twelve, watching Darkwing Duck, when his mother walks in holding an NYPD nightstick and a condom and announces the day’s lesson. She’s a former teenage runaway determined her son won’t repeat her mistakes, so she demonstrates once and considers the matter settled. Five years later the real moment arrives, and Jesse has never practiced.
