LISTENAnnie is a transgender woman and a professional truck driver with 35 years of experience. Her life was forever changed after she was wrongfully convicted in Crawford County, Pennsylvania, despite evidence showing she was defending her own life.
Annie was violently attacked and nearly strangled, then prosecuted by a district attorney who was campaigning for re-election and later for a judgeship, publicly stating he would put an end to transgender people in CrawfordCounty. Annie believes she was made an example of during that campaign.
When a new prosecutor took over, Annie was told it could take up to four years just to prepare for trial. She was terrified. Against her better judgment, and under pressure, she pled no contest. That plea led to a conviction, prison time, and parole.
Today, Annie is labeled a convicted felon. She cannot find steady work, despite decades as a truck driver.
