Jillian Lauren

Jillian Lauren is a writer, storyteller, and advocate for victims of violent crime. She is the New York Times bestselling author of several memoirs, including Some Girls: My Life in a Harem, which recounts Jillian’s time spent in the harem of the Prince of Brunei, has been translated into eighteen languages. Her interviews with Samuel Little, America’s most prolific serial killer, is documented in her book Behold the Monster: Confronting a Killer, in Joe Berlinger’s documentary, Confronting a Seriel Killer, and in Michael Connelly’s podcast Murder Book: The Women Who Brought Down Samuel Little.

Jillian’s essays and articles, have been in New York Magazine, The New York Times, The Paris Review, The Los Angeles Times, Vanity Fair, Los Angeles Magazine, Elle, and Salon, among others. She tells live stories with The Moth, and gave a TED talk about identity and adoption.

Jillian is married to Weezer bass player Scott Shriner, and they live in Los Angeles with their two sons.
