Synopsis

Chesley grows up estranged from his redneck-hippie father in rural Louisiana, bonding with him only after discovering as a teenager that his dad smokes marijuana. The shared secret bridges a cultural and ideological gulf that had kept them apart through Chesley’s childhood. But the distance widens again when Chesley goes off to college and returns as a committed leftist and vegetarian.
