Synopsis

(Content note: death) As a boy in Richmond, VA, Ray remembers when a woman is found dead. He first sees her in winter begging at Mr. Woodson’s door. Later, he discovers her naked and on a leash in Mr. Woodson’s backyard. Despite neighborhood rumors, no one intervenes. One night, he hears noises and finds her body outside. Neighbors gather but avoid calling the police, reflecting on their indifference to her plight.
