Synopsis

(Content note: references to torture) Sofia, a Pakistani-American Uzbek and Russian interpreter at Guantanamo Bay, is summoned to a cellblock where a young Uzbek detainee is in a rage. Caught between orders not to sympathize and the detainee’s insistence that she translate every word, she finds herself reciting some of the most colorful insults she has ever heard, until the real issue finally surfaces.
