Self-proclaimed blerd Thomas grows up desperate for his ex-Marine father’s approval. One night, he turns the karate his father insisted he take against the man himself, to protect his mother during a vicious assault at his father’s hand. In the aftermath, his father vanishes for thirty years, only to reappear as a shrunken shadow of himself at Thomas’s mother’s funeral and tell him “you did good, son,” stunning Thomas with how much it still means.
