Synopsis

Julie takes driver’s ed at age 28, signing up for lessons on Staten Island, with a middle-aged male instructor named Ron, who talks a lot, eventually about rather inappropriate and sexual topics. On Julie’s next-to-last lesson, Ron makes her drive to a remote, secluded area and says, “If I were to rape you right now, it would be your word against mine.” Julie stays calm, and tells him she’s driving home, but she’s totally rattled. Somehow, Julie still takes her last lesson with Ron the next week – she really wants her license! – and endures Ron’s statements about how “women misinterpret things he says” sometimes. She gets a friend to be her chaperone for the final test, and never sees Ron again.
