Synopsis

Melanie moved to Taos, New Mexico to work on the book she was trying to write. While there, she worked at a pizza parlor and started a relationship with one of her co-workers — a handsome, outdoor-adventurer type who quickly latched onto the resources she could provide, partly because he had so few himself. The relationship quickly turned aggressively dependent, and then emotionally and physically abusive. Melanie was frightened of her boyfriend’s unpredictable explosions, but also really loved him and was reluctant to leave. However, when her partner raped her and threatened to kill himself if she left, Melanie created a plan to extricate herself, cut all ties, and move to LA.
